Day 1 consists of background about vision skill development and visual compensation strategies. Day 2 is full-day workshop where the participants are divided into groups, specific vision therapy activities are presented for the groups to work with. Concepts of "Loading" and "Unloading" are taught and implemented. This course was developed for parents, teachers and other professionals to experience the Power of Vision Therapy first-hand.
The Tools of Vision Therapy: Patches, Filters, Lenses & Prisms - This 5+ hour workshop allows each participate to experience how patches, filters, lenses & prisms affect the visual system and can be implemented in a therapeutic manner under the directions of a developmental/behavioral optometrist to facilitate optimal changes in visual function.

Look, Listen & Move: A Vision Therapist's Perspective on Integration - This 4 hour workshop allows each participant to experience the vital role vision plays in guiding our motor system and integrating other sensory systems. In addition, participants will learn about the critical foundation our motor system provides for developing more complex learning experiences.

The Art of Vision Therapy: Loading/Unloading Activity Demands - This 4 hour workshop discusses ways to assess patient performance and adjust the demands accordingly. The goal is to build the needed skill to a point of automaticity. Each participant will also work in a 'small group' environment in order to develop loading/unloading techniques for established therapeutic activities.

The Intangible Tools - This 2 hour workshop educates participants about other sensory/emotional issues certain patient populations may experience in conjunction with their visual issues and how to handle those issues to help you patients to achieve their best performance.

Light, Mind & Body: An Introduction to Syntonics - This 2.5 hour workshop educates participants about the historical background and therapeutic application of light. Participants will learn how various colors affect the autonomic nervous system and about treatment for common visual syndromes.

VISUAL PERCEPTION & INFORMATION PROCESSING -

HOW TO HELP PEOPLE WHO HAVE VISION PROBLEMS - This 3.5 hour workshop educates non-vision providers about the specific effects people with vision problems experience. In addition, participants will learn how to implement proper ergonomics and/or visual compensations to decrease the visual & environmental stresses these people experience in daily activities.
